A last-minute alteration has been made by Royal Caribbean regarding which area of Icon of the Seas would be reserved for adults only.
Since Royal Caribbean first unveiled information about its newest cruise ship, Cloud 17 has been designated as an adult-only area. The Solarium, which was formerly the adults-only space on Icon’s cruise ships, is not present.
The plan has changed, as Cruise Critic first reported.
For visitors who are eighteen years of age or older, the adults-only area will be The Hideaway neighborhood rather than Cloud 17 (which is situated in Chill Island).
According to Jay Schneider, Senior Vice President and Chief Product Innovation Officer of Royal Caribbean, the modification was done within the previous week.
Upon boarding Icon of the Seas for her inaugural revenue voyage on January 27, 2024, guests will discover The Hideaway to be a kid-free zone. All ages are welcome to visit Cloud 17.
Why the plan was changed?
There were several reasons for changing the venue restrictions only a few weeks before the new cruise liner was scheduled to depart.
First, Mr. Schneider stated that having a very similar called location on Icon of the Seas made more sense to have the same policy because Hideaway Beach at Perfect Day at CocoCay was going to be an adults-only area.
Furthermore, according to Cruise Critic, Royal Caribbean believed that Cloud 17 was on “prime real estate” and that it made no sense to keep families out of the area.
