President Joe Biden and other important US officials have already cautioned against the decision to attack, stressing that it would be a “layered reaction” rather than a single blow to the militias.

The United States launched airstrikes on several locations in Iraq and Syria connected to Iranian-backed militias and the Iranian Revolutionary Guard in retaliation for the deaths of its servicemen in Jordan.

President Joe Biden and other important US officials have already cautioned against the decision to attack, stressing that it would be a “layered reaction” rather than a single blow to the militias.

What does Joe Biden say?

“The United States does not desire violence in the Middle East or anyplace else in the globe,” Biden declared in a statement following the attacks. However, let everyone who would try to hurt us know that we will retaliate if you hurt an American.”

President Biden asserted on Sunday that terrorist organizations backed by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) fired a drone that killed three American soldiers in Jordan.

He then spoke with each soldier’s family and took part in the soldiers’ repatriation ceremony at Dover Air Force Base.

According to reports, Biden declared, “This afternoon, US military forces hit targets at sites in Syria and Iraq that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and allied militia use to strike US personnel. We started responding today. It will go on whenever and wherever we want.”

Specifics of the aerial attacks

The US Central Command said in an AP story that at 4:00 PM EST on Friday, its troops launched airstrikes in Syria and Iraq against the IRGC Quds Force and related militia organisations.

Over 85 targets were hit by US military forces, using a variety of aircraft, including long-range bombers that were operated out of the US. Over 125 precise weapons were used in the airstrikes.

Command and control operations centres, intelligence gathering places, missile and rocket launchers, unmanned aerial vehicle storage facilities, and logistics and munition supply chain facilities of militia groups and their IRGC sponsors that enabled attacks against US and Coalition forces were among the facilities that were hit, according to CENTCOM reports.

Reply from the Defence Secretary

According to Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin, the IRGC and its allied militias utilise these seven buildings as a base of operations to target US soldiers.

It is alleged that Autin stated, “This is the beginning of our answer.” In order to make the IRGC and associated militias responsible for their attacks against US and Coalition Forces, the President has ordered more measures.”

“These will emerge at times and locations of our choosing,” he continued. The President and I will not put up with assaults on American personnel, but we do not want to go to war in the Middle East or anywhere else. To protect the US, our soldiers, and our interests, we will take all necessary measures.”
