KANSAS CITY, Mo.— Kansas City is making all necessary arrangements for what has the potential to be the most frigid game ever witnessed at Arrowhead Stadium, as it gears up to face the Dolphins in a playoff match on Saturday at 7 p.m.

The most frigid Chiefs game ever held at Arrowhead Stadium occurred on December 18, 1983, when they faced off against the Denver Broncos. The temperature on that day, according to Pro Football Reference, was recorded at 0.5 degrees. Furthermore, a more recent game took place in December 2016 versus the Tennessee Titans, where the temperature at kickoff was a mere one degree.

City officials strongly advise fans to take this weather carefully.

Ensure that you add an additional layer of clothing, especially on your extremities such as your feet and fingers, even if you believe you are adequately covered for warmth. Indeed, Kansas City has been accustomed to such frigid weather for many years. Arrowhead has repeatedly encountered this situation. “The crowd will undoubtedly be a sellout, completely filled once again. However, we strongly urge everyone to prioritize their safety,” stated Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas.

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes expresses his indifference towards playing in chilly conditions.

“I have come to the realization that practicing in cold weather is significantly more challenging than playing in the cold with the aid of heaters and other equipment on the sideline. However, as you mentioned, I grew up in Texas where I did not experience games like this. Nevertheless, I genuinely appreciate the opportunity to be in a stadium like this, in such cold weather. It truly reinforces the feeling of playing real football,” Mahomes conveyed to reporters earlier this week.

The Chiefs are urging fans to dress warmly. Warming stations will be available, attendees are welcome to bring blankets, and complimentary hot chocolate will be provided for designated drivers.

The Chiefs assert that you may adequately prepare for the game by following these tips:

  • It is advisable to dress in loose-fitting layers and ensure that all exposed skin is well covered.
  • Guests are allowed to bring blankets (without zippers or pockets) slung over their shoulder during the security screening process. They may also bring cardboard that is no larger than 3’x5′, as well as portable chargers and non-dry cell batteries (both no larger than 6″x3″x1.5″) to power heated gear. Battery packs are required to be disconnected during the security examination.
  • Fans requiring extra layers on site can conveniently visit any of the several Pro Shop sites that will be well-equipped with warm attire.
  • Ensure proper hydration. Each guest is permitted to bring a single factory-sealed bottle of water, with a capacity of 20 ounces or less.
  • Warming stations will be strategically positioned throughout the complex:

Warming trailers will be conveniently located near parking gates 3/4, 5 and 6, inside Lots B, C, D, F and G, as well as the northwest corner of the Ford Tailgate District in Lot M.

Inside the stadium, there will be a total of nine warming stations available.
