Maryland During a Monday visit to south Baltimore, Governor Wes Moore unveiled legislation aimed at combating poverty.
Moore was speaking about the ENOUGH Act at Life Church Ministries, which is located not far from the scene of the Brooklyn Homes mass shooting. Should it be approved, $15 million would be allocated yearly to communities to help with housing, crime, and employment prospects through grants from the state and private sectors.
“The median household income in the state of Maryland is $98,000,” according to Moore. “The median salary in Brooklyn is $35,000.”

Moore stated that these initiatives will be created by the communities, pointing out that not all towns benefit from state-directed programs. He mentioned Freddie Gray’s neighborhood, which received state aid for thirty years.
Moore stated, “Decades later, Sandtown-Winchester’s poverty rate is more than twice as high as the state average.” “Wealth is vital. It is essential to have a strategy.
In February, the measure will be heard. Should it be approved and authorized by the governor, it will take effect in July.
