The well-known and powerful social media influencer Kara Swisher, a media and tech writer, is joining CNN as an on-air contributor.
The Chris Wallace Show, which we can confirm will launch on Saturday, Nov. 4 at 10 a.m., is the new Saturday morning news program hosted by Chris Wallace. The network announced Swisher’s hiring on Thursday morning. E.T.
Based in Washington, D.C., Swisher will frequently participate on Wallace’s program as a panelist. She will also be seen on the network in breaking news reports on media, technology, and culture.
In addition to serving as editor-at-large for New York Magazine, Swisher is the host of the podcast On with Kara Swisher and co-host of the Pivot podcast. Since she began covering the IT sector in the early 1990s, Swisher has been known as the industry oracle with unparalleled access to the most important figures.
BoomTown, written by Swisher, ran online at WSJ.com and on the Marketplace section’s home page. She formerly authored technology feature stories for The Wall Street Journal and covered breaking news regarding internet legislation and prominent figures on the online. Swisher has previously held positions as an editor for the Washington, D.C. City Paper and a reporter for the Washington Post.
Swisher has conducted interviews with former CNN executives Jason Kilar and Chris Licht for her podcast, On.
She formerly hosted the Sway podcast and contributed editorial pieces to the New York Times.
In addition to co-founding the tech website Recode, she and Walt Mossberg co-produced and co-hosted The Wall Street Journal’s D: All Things Digital conference series, which is currently known as the Code Conference, beginning in 2003. Founded in 2007, AllThingsD.com was a tech and media website that she co-executive edited with Mossberg.
