Rory McIlroy, Golfer, Hired Private Investigator To Let His Wife Know That He Was Divorcing Her

The golfer also hired the same lawyer who handled Tiger Woods’ divorce.

It has come to light that earlier this month, Rory McIlroy served his wife with divorce papers by hiring a private investigator.

The Belfast Telegraph stated that on May 13, the 35-year-old professional golfer recruited Carl Woods, a former police officer and private investigator, to bring the documents to his 36-year-old wife Erica McIlroy at their Jupiter, Florida, home. In the court documents, McIlroy declared his seven-year marriage to be “irretrievably ruined.”

The golfer received the papers in Quail Hallow, North Carolina, one day after winning the Wells Fargo Championship. The publication said that on the opening day of the competition, he had digitally signed the documents.

Ms. McIlroy is given 20 days in Palm Beach County Court to reply to the filing.

The documents said, as reported by the newspaper, “If you want the court to hear your side of the issue, your written answer, containing the case number indicated above and the names of the parties, must be filed.” “You risk losing the lawsuit and having your property, money, and earnings confiscated without further notice from the court if you fail to file your response on time.”

The divorce filing has not yet received a response from Ms. McIIroy.

Poppy, the couple’s three-year-old daughter, was born into the marriage in 2017 in Ireland’s Ashford Castle. According to the Belfast Telegraph, the Northern Irish golfer is attempting to split custody of the kid and execute a 2017 prenuptial agreement.

Thomas Sasser, a lawyer who defended Tiger Woods during his divorce from Elin Nordegren, has also been hired by McIlroy.
