Sean Richmond, the athletic director of Stroudsburg High School and a graduate of Easton Area High School, passed away, leaving the wrestling communities in the Lehigh Valley and Pennsylvania in sadness.
A tractor trailer travelling north on Interstate 380 struck and killed Richmond just after six o’clock on Saturday, according to Monroe County Coroner Tom Yanac of lehighvalleylive.com. State police estimate that the collision occurred close to mile marker 1.4. After being transported to the St. Luke’s Hospital–Monroe campus in Stroudsburg, Richmond was subsequently declared deceased.
Yanac stated on Monday morning that the cause and manner of Richmond’s death are still being looked into.
Richmond wrestled at Easton and won two state medals. He carried on with his career at the University of Pittsburgh, where he qualified for the NCAA and won an EWL medal.
